We should start serving Halal in our school cafeteria. Halal is an Arabic word that means “lawful or permitted.” Although Halal encompasses all products and life choices, it’s widely-associated with food and drink. Halal food, like every aspect of Halal, is inspired by the Quran. The core principle is that we should only consume food that is good for us, such as plant-based items, and avoid food that is unhealthy. Also, the food consumed, such as meat, must abide by laws while being prepared which is very similar to Kosher laws. The population of Muslims has increased in East Meadow. Some of us are not able to eat many of the lunch food items because they are not Halal. We should try to bring Halal to serve this growing population.
